Our MD & CEO, Ajoy Misra delivers Keynote Address at the 19th World Congress on Environment Management

The Institute of Directors (IOD) organized the 19th World Congress on Environment Management on the theme ‘Managing Environment and Climate Change – Transitioning to a Sustainable Economy’. This took place on 7 - 8 July 2017 in Hyderabad, India. Climate Change has dominated the development scene during the last decade and global and regional developmental issues are increasingly evaluated through the prism of climate change management. The 19th World Congress focused on the connectedness between sustainable economic growth and climate risk management, climate resilient communities and businesses, and climate adaptation and mitigation policies.

In the opening session, Dr. T. Ramachandru, IAS (retd.), Special Representative, Govt of Telengana welcomed the delegates while H.E. Nils Ragnar Kamsvåg, Ambassador of Norway to India delivered the theme address and our MD & CEO, Ajoy Misra was invited to deliver the keynote address.

Ajoy spoke on the UN’s Global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) that aspire to end all forms of poverty, fight inequalities and tackle climate change. He informed the audience that as an ethically, socially and environmentally conscious business group, we are aligning with the SDGs to help achieve them by 2030. He also elaborated on the sustainability strategy of TGB and the Natural Beverages Policy which is linked to the SDGs. He spoke of our Jaago Re campaign, Gaon Chalo, Rain Forest Alliance and trustea certifications, the UNICEF-ETP project in Assam and the community development initiatives in Assam and Munnar.
